Looks really can be deceiving, can't they?

Take Pippa here, for example.  At first glance, you'd probably think she's a very cross, bad-tempered little cat, wouldn't you?  Well, that couldn't possibly be further from the truth.  (And I should know as I had a particularly furious-looking tortie myself.)

When she came to us, Pippa weighed a mere 1.2 kg and looked like a proverbial bag of bones.  As you can see, she is making fantastic progress.  She is now filling out well and her fur has grown back as soft as velvet.

Although rather nervous at first, it wasn't long before she allowed our photographer to stroke her.  In fact, she kept coming back to him for more!  Believe me, despite her stern expression, this is one very loving litle girl.

She has now started to play a little, but hasn't been heard to purr yet.  After the traumatic time she's had, that's hardly surprising.  But perhaps there's a special person out there who could give her all the love she needs and help her learn to purr again?

Pippa does have a slight heart problem, which is kept under control with daily tablets.

She is also FIV positive, but please don't let that put you off her - because, believe me, this little girl is desperately deserving of a good home.  As long as she receives prompt veterinary treatment for any health problems, there's no reason why she can't live a perfectly happy life.  FIV can only be transmitted to other cats - so you, your children, dogs or any other animals couldn't catch it from Pippa.  This does mean, however, that Pippa needs to be either be an only cat or rehomed with another FIV positive feline.  She'll also need to be kept indoors - which makes her ideal for anyone without a garden who'd love to have a cat of their own.

Please feel free to contact us if you're interested in Pippa, but would like more information on looking after an FIV cat.

She certainly does.  I think she's very beautiful too, just like that certain other cross-looking tortie.

Oh, and have you seen that a tiny little bit of her black nose is pink?  That's one of the most special noses I think I've ever seen.

Sorry to show my ignorance,  Embarrassed  is there no way you could have a FIV cat with others? even if they are vaccinated?

I think Pippa is wonderful but I have a multi cat household, all my cats are fully vaccinated.

Hi Lilly.

As far as I know, there isn't yet a vaccine against FIV.  Your own cats would be at risk if an infected cat bit them.

This site has some good info on FIV:
